Online Treatment: What is it and is it for you?

We understand that life is busy and can be stressful with so many demands you may be juggling. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have access to top quality care from an experienced psychologist like Dr. Priyanka. Modern technology has made it possible to have a therapeutic con-nection with a health professional.
If you are running late to an in-person appointment or you get stuck at a meeting or are just too ill with the flu to come in, at Thrive Wellness and Mediation we are committed to making sure you have the care you deserve and never miss another session!
Dr. Priyanka provides therapy and coaching to her clients in her NYC or North NJ office, or online via a HIPAA complaint video and telephone medium.
While many people like to come in for in person sessions, there are growing numbers of people gravitating towards either online therapy and coaching or using a combination of the two depending on their needs and life situation. This can be especially true for those of you who live too far from Dr. Priyanka’s office or are traveling for work frequently, making in-person sessions difficult to attend consistently.

HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?

You will connect with Dr. Priyanka using a secure encrypted HIPAA compliant software platform that is used by mental health professionals to conduct individual, group and family sessions with their clients online. We use a platform FREE for you that works on all types of devices- Mac. PC, iOS and Android tablets and phones. So you don’t have to download any special software. All you will need is a device with an internet connection and privacy for 30-45 minutes and a link that Dr. Priyanka will send to you. It also works on most browsers – IE, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.

Is Online therapy right for me?

The stress of modern life and the advances in technology to help connect people in some powerful ways. At Thrive Wellness & Mediation we are able to offer our clients new options for participating in therapy and coaching. In deciding whether online therapy is right for you, consider the following things: Do I have the time in my day to attend sessions in person? If the answer is NO, then you can access Dr. Priyanka at a mutually convenient time from the comfort of your home or from your office, or may be even when you are on vacation!

Will I still have a complete therapy experience?

Online therapy is different, but it can be as fulfilling and helpful as an in-person session. The key factors in making your session as complete as possible is come with an open mind to a new experience (a skill set will be working on in coaching and/or therapy). You will still have the privacy you deserve in an in-person visit as long as you make sure you are in a space where you will not be interrupted or are surrounded by other people. Whether you are with Dr. Priyanka in person or virtually, the session is “your time.” So turn off other distractions like television, mu-sic and your work computer, for instance so that both you and Dr. Priyanka can do the best work in a dedicated space.

What about privacy?

We use a safe and secure (meaning private) medium. In order to verify your identity, Dr. Priyanka will require you to provide a photo identification and you will need to fill out an initial packet of forms which will be emailed to you.

What if we get disconnected?

Technological glitches are normal and do occur. They can be frustrating, so we will have a con-versation about what to do in case of a technical failure and discuss alternative modes of communication. If you are in a crisis however and we get disconnected, and you are within NJ you should get immediate help through your local ER or by calling 9-1-1. If you are in NYC you can call 1888-NYCWELL, go to your nearest ER or call 9-1-1.

How do I get started?

To make a therapy or coaching appointment, you can connect with us through our contact form or schedule a 15 minute phone call with Dr. Priyanka by calling 732-463-9444. - If you would like to schedule a call to learn more about our mediation services, choose the mediation option in the form by clicking HERE . In your email, please explain in detail your concerns and we will contact you for some questions or clarification (if necessary) and set a time and date for the 15 minute consultation.

How do I pay for my sessions?

Please note that online sessions must be prepaid using credit card, or an online payment system you can discuss using with Dr. Priyanka. If it's necessary to cancel a session, we require 48 hrs notice. In case of cancellation after this time limit, the session will be charged normally.
